The MCSD Board of Education gave final approval to a few adjustments to the 2022-23 School Calendar at their March 10 meeting. According to State Code 53F-2-102, a school board may elect to re-allocate up to 32 instructional hours for teacher preparation time or development during a school year.

Because of some additional mandated intensive training, coupled with elevated needs in professional development (PD) due to strains resulting from the pandemic since 2020, the Board voted to approve changes to the following dates from the previous calendar:

  • August 15-19, 2022: Two half-days of PD and three half-days of teacher prep time.
  • October 20, 2022: Adjustment from half-day of PD to half-day of teacher prep time
  • November 11, 2022: Additional PD day added
  • January 27, 2023: Additional PD day added (moved from half PD day on January 20)
  • March 16, 2023: Additional half-day for teacher prep time added
  • April 14, 2023: Additional PD day added
  • April 28, 2023: Additional teacher prep day added
