Longview School LAND Trust: A message from Principal Connie Amos |
Longview Parents and Guardians:
We are required to give a mid-year summary of our school's progress as it relates to Utah's School LAND trust funds. I am pleased to say that our plan is being carried out exactly as outlined by our School Community Council. Our School Improvement Plan lists three main goals for our school: - Increase Student Achievement and Literacy
- Increase Student Achievement in Math
- Continue Schoolwide Efforts in Establishing and Insuring a Positive School Climate.
Of the estimated $21,000 funded, we are spending all of it on reading tutors and substitutes. To date, $13,600 has been utilized. Our tutors work with power hour and other specialized literacy groups. Please note, that other funding is also used allowing us to hire our tutors. Our substitutes come on Friday and teach art, PE, and music allowing teachers to attend their grade level team meeting. These meetings are important because student achievement is constantly being assessed. Our mid-year literacy and math assessments have shown improvement, and we look forward to the state DWA and CRT assessments coming up soon.

EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSURES
& 2-HOUR DELAY START TIME
In the event that there is justification for an emergency school closure because of weather conditions, safety concerns, heating problems, power outage, etc. Tune into the media and listen for decisions regarding the status of the school or district. You may also call the Murray School District at 801-264-7400 for the latest information regarding school closure.
If the weather conditions appear to be developing by the 6:00am decision time frame, the superintendent or designee may delay the start of school for 2 hours. The following schedule restrictions would be put into place:
School would start at 11:00am
Bus stop times would be delayed for 2 hours
from the regular pick-up time.
The breakfast program would be unavailable for the day.
Field trips scheduled for the day will be cancelled.
Pre-school will be cancelled.
