Assessment of preschool children

 

 

 -Introduce “Child Care Foldable” and conduct activities to enhance learning of types a Child Care Facilities, Characteristics Child Care worker,  Rights of Children, Responsibilities of Teachers, Child Care Job Opportunities.  Discuss Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) and other philosophies adhered to by different Child Care Center facilities.  Compare and contrast various child care facilities.  Use a Venn diagram and discuss it.

 

 

-Observe skills and abilities of various children in areas of Physical, Social/emotional, and Intellectual/cognitive.  Have students work in Cooperative Learning Groups and Jigsaw each developmental area.  Have groups prepare a visual to supplement their presentations.

-Identify creative art skills and appropriate science activities and how they relate to Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP).  Students will create an 8.5X11 bulletin board idea and complete 2 art activities.  Students will select and read preschool age-appropriate books and jig saw the presentation of other language arts activities.  Students will identify and implement 2 preschool age-appropriate math activities.  Where possible, students will apply these learning activities by working with preschool age children from Spartan Station.  Student will practice positive guidance techniques by eliminating negative statements, and implementing effective transition activities. 

Students will practice the use of positive directions with one another and the preschool children.

Observe and record an anecdotal record.  Infer why the events took place the way they did by considering the child’s positive motive and emotions.  Compare your anecdotal record and inferences with another student who watched the same events. .Develop and use a checklist assessment and determine its usefulness.  Compare and contrast an anecdotal record and a check list assessment using a Venn Diagram.
