Learning specific warm-up and stretching exercises, learning dance terminology, learn a new muscle everyday

students will gain flexibility through stretching and will learn and be able to do 10 basic dance steps

Students will be graded on their knowledge of basic dance steps and must perform them accurately

October

Students will be taught two different styles of dance, they will learn to incorporate the various styles of motion

Students will work in cooperative learning groups to create their own floor pattern

Students will be grades on their own floor patterns utilizing the dance steps they have learned they will also create the first set of 8 counts at the beg. of a dance

November

Students will learn more difficult across the floor steps and be given an oral muscle test

Students will demonstrate more ability in more difficult steps, they will be incorporated in the new Christmas dance they will learn

Students will be graded on the dance as well as teach some movement to others

December

Students will create their own Christmas dances and be graded on them

They will work in cooperative learning groups and choose who they are with

Students will be graded on their creativity of their dance in the own groups

January

Everything learned in the class over the semester will be reviewed and one final dance learned

Dance II will begin with a review of basic dance steps

Students will learn the dance and then work on it on their own. They will also learn dance terminology for a written test

Dancers will demonstrate their ability to perform certain dance steps

Students will be graded on their final dance and have a written test on dance terminology and also turn in a written dance critique from a concert they have attended

Dancers will be graded on certain combinations

Students will stretch each day and do a variety of warm-ups and dance exercises

Students will be graded periodically on certain dance steps and exercises

Students will be graded on a new dance incorporating all the dance steps learned so far

March

Students will create their own dances in cooperative learning groups

Students will select their own music and movement to perform

Students will be graded on their own compositions

April

Students will learn various combination utilizing the various qualities of movement

Students will be shown the different types and then experiment on their own with each type.

Students will be graded on their mastery of each of the qualities of movement

May-June

Students will be assigned a period of time to research the dance done then

Students must research music, costume, culture and movement of the their time period

Students will be graded on their dance history project on the music, history, costume and choreography

Also must hand in a typed critique of the concert they attended
