Honors Sophomore English Grade
Updated May 10, 2018
Enhancements and book points are completely optional. These rules apply equally to all students. As long as you meet the following criteria, you may choose what you do and how much you earn. Forms are available in printable form from the following links.
Please read the following before making any plans for doing enhancements. If these instructions are not followed to the letter, I will not record your work :
You may not earn book points or enhancement points unless ALL of the assigned work in the quarter is completed.
You may not earn book points or enhancement points if you have lost all of your citizenship points in any quarter.
Book points and enhancement points are due when the bell rings in your English class on the specified day near the end of each quarter. This deadline will be plainly marked on the calendar. There will be no exceptions. [Note: I will not allow you to do these in class on the due date.]
You may choose ONE of the following for a maximum of 100 points. You do not need to purchase this book. Nor do you have to annotate it or show it to me. You must thoroughly fill out a Review of Readings form on this reading. :
You may read one book per quarter from a list of approved books.
You may read an additional play or book by any of the authors that we study during the quarter. You must thoroughly fill out a Review of Readings form on this reading and attach it to a correctly filled out Grade Enhancement Summary form. Please note the following about books not on the approved list:
You earn book points by purchasing or otherwise providing copies of the books (any kind of e-book for Kindles, Nooks, or other e-readers count) we read AND by filling out a Review of Readings form for each book you provide. Each of these completed reading forms is worth 10 points—usually 30 or 40 points per quarter depending on what we read.
Attach the forms for the books that you are submitting to a correctly filled out Grade Enhancement Summary form. If you want the points, do quality work and keep track of it accurately.
