MurrE-QUOTE:
"Let
peace begin with me,
let this be the moment now.
With every step I take,
let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment
and live each moment,
in peace, eternally.
Let there be Peace on Earth,
and let it begin with me.”
– Words and Music by Jill Jackson
and Sy Miller, circa 1955

Superintendent
Richard R. Tranter
Murray High School Graduate
The greatest single resource available to every parent is
the ability to be able to ask questions and find out everything
that you can about your child’s education.
At Parent Teacher Conferences be
fully engaged with the teacher and find out about his programs and
classroom; communicate with the school secretaries; get to know
your child’s principal and be sure the principal knows your
child; and check backpacks carefully for school notes and messages.
Watch for articles in your local newspaper, check the district website,
be aware of school functions and attend as many as your family’s
schedule permits.
Your attitude is the most critical
influence in your child’s life during these important school
years. All of the educational and legislative mandates in the world
will never have the impact that your own involvement and concern
will have on the future of your child. It really doesn’t matter
what time it is in the school year, one of the most important things
that you can do for your student is to be involved in her education
however possible. It’s the best way to show your children
how important a good education is to you… and them!
Richard R. Tranter has been superintendent of the Murray City
School District since 1998. He has also been a teacher, principal
and student in the Murray District. Being a product of Utah schools,
and a graduate of Murray High, gives him unique insight into the
Utah educational system. Superintendent Tranter holds undergraduate,
graduate and educational specialist degrees from BYU and attended
the Harvard Graduate School of Education for Principalship Studies.
