Every April, communities across the country observe Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, support families, and commit to the safety and well-being of children. In Utah, the need for action is urgent. According to the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, over 9,000 children were confirmed victims of abuse or neglect in 2023 alone.

Child abuse comes in many forms—physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect—and its impacts can last a lifetime. Children who experience abuse are more likely to face mental health struggles, academic challenges, and long-term health issues. But abuse is preventable, and every person can play a role in creating safe, nurturing environments for kids.
