While there are no reported cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Utah, Murray City School District is aware of the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) recent posting of an Infectious Disease Outbreak Plan for school districts across the nation.

We are reviewing this document thoroughly, comparing it to our existing relevant plans and policies. We are also seeking guidance from the State Board of Education and State Health Department to ensure we have addressed all the specifics and are prepared.

Utah’s public health system (Utah Department of Health and the 13 local health departments) are currently developing guidelines for actions to be taken (including school closures, canceling community events, etc.) when we see COVID-19 cases in Utah.  Because these guidelines will be statewide, they have informed us that it will take some time to coordinate acceptance of them across all jurisdictions.

As always, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our students, personnel, and Murray community. We appreciate the CDC’s efforts to partner with school districts, helping us protect and serve our communities while minimizing disruptions to our day-to-day operations. Specifics of our outbreak response plan, including how educational services will be addressed, will be shared once it is complete.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to our district at info@murraycityschools.org or 801-264-7400.
