Update: Thursday, March 26 @ 3:30 pm

No Digital Home Learning Between March 27 and April 5

Tomorrow, March 27 will be a teacher workday – no digital home learning. And next week is Spring Break in Murray City School District – also no digital learning. Digital home learning will resume on April 6.

Grades and Communication

Secondary Teachers will be issuing grades as it is the end of the term, so watch for that through your Aspire account. And while you are in Aspire, please verify that your contact information is current – that includes email addresses and phone numbers. Now more than ever, those lines of communication are important to teachers and district officials to ensure parents and students are aware of notices and other communications. Elementary teachers are issuing progress updates for 3rd Term and will be issuing regular grades in Aspire and Illuminate for 4th Term.

If you have NOT been receiving our daily email briefings through PeachJar it could be one of two things. Either your email address in Aspire has not been updated OR emails coming from us through PeachJar are landing in your SPAM folder. Please help resolve this, again, so we can have open channels of communication with you.

District Office Schedule and Technical Support

Like schools and teachers, the District Office and our Digital Home Learning support team will be unavailable Spring Break. Chromebook repair and replacement will resume by appointment only on April 6 at 8:00 am.

Reminder: Boys and Girls Club Spring Break Lunch

As was mentioned yesterday, The Boys and Girls Club of Murray will be offering free grab-and-go lunches, plus a snack for kids 0-18. This will be March 30-April 3, from 10:30 am and 2:30 pm at their facility, 244 E Myrtle Ave. (5065 S) in Murray. MCSD will start lunch service up again on April 6, following Spring Break.

Update: Wednesday, March 25 @ 3:30 pm

Please Stay Engaged

At MCSD we plan to continue to educate students, please help us help our students stay focused and participate in their daily online learning. By and large, reports of student participation in digital home learning are encouraging and improving every day. MCSD has an excellent online learning plan that is being executed well. Participation is critical to academic progress and grading. Just like classroom learning, non-participation or less engaged efforts in digital home learning will impact future achievements, scholarships, and academic progress.

Chromebook Pickups

While we are ending our drop-in Chromebook pickup phase, we are still actively working with parents who need them or are having issues to repair them. Going forward, we ask that you contact our District support lines to arrange a time to pickup or repair your Chromebook. This can be done at (801) 264-7411 or dldhotline@murrayschools.org. You can use these same contacts for troubleshooting at home, including WiFi connectivity issues.

Boys and Girls Club Spring Break Lunch

As MCSD will be on Spring Break next week (March 30-April 3), The Boys and Girls Club of Murray will offer free grab-and-go lunches, plus a snack for kids 0-18. This will be March 30-April 3, from 10:30 am and 2:30 pm at their facility, 244 E Myrtle Ave. (5065 S) in Murray. MCSD will start lunch service up again on April 6, following Spring Break.

SafeUT App

Please be sensitive to the effects of quarantines, social distancing, and the barrage of negative news coverage in your homes. Parents and students need not suffer in silence. There are a number of fantastic resources that are standing by to help. One of those is the SafeUT App that is always free, 100% confidential, and available 24/7. https://safeut.med.utah.edu/

Reminder: Teacher Work Day on March 27 and Spring Break

MCSD has designated that March 27 will be a teacher workday, and thus the end of the academic term will be March 26. That means that there will be no Digital Home Learning programming for students on March 27.

And, just as a reminder, the following week is MCSD’s Spring Break and there will be no Digital Home Learning that week as well. At this point, we have not been given direction from the State on a date when schools will resume following this dismissal or soft closure period. As we learn more we will help reinforce information they share publicly about that to parents and students.

Update: Tuesday, March 24 @ 4:00 pm

School Dismissal Extended

As announced by Governor Herbert and Superintendent Dickson Monday afternoon, digital home learning will continue through May 1. Parents and students are directed to continue their digital home learning as we watch things unfold regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

WiFi Connectivity

We are making progress on miscellaneous WiFi connectivity issues each day, so we appreciate your patience. If you are having WiFi connectivity issues, continue to reach out to our central tech support contacts so we can address each of them. Here are the contacts for that: (801) 264-7411 and dldhotline@murrayschools.org

Update: Monday, March 23 @ 5:30 pm

Update for Monday, March 23, 2020 @ 3:00 pm

School Breakfast Started Today

Last week, the State Board of Education approved school breakfast distribution that started today (Monday). The breakfast is mirroring grab-and-go school lunches distribution in terms of locations (all schools, plus Fireclay and Frontgate) and time of pickup (Monday through Friday, 11:30 and to 12:30 pm). Breakfast sacks are intended for the following day.

No Student Packets Printed/Downloaded

In keeping with social distancing advisories, printed school work packets will not be distributed. MCSD is very fortunate in that we are a 1:1 district where all students have access to Chromebook devices and training to complete assignments and coursework within our Digital Home Learning program.

WiFi Connectivity

If you are still having WiFi connectivity issues, it’s important that you contact us through our central tech support communications so we can track and address each of them. Here are the contacts for that: (801) 264-7411 and dldhotline@murrayschools.org

Follow Us on Social Media

We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram if you have not done so. Along with important messages, we are working to keep things fun and engaging during the soft closure. For example, this week is School Spirit Week. Each day we are issuing a fun challenge so it’s a great distraction from the stress and anxiety associated with quarantine.
