At Horizon Elementary each grade level is working on lessons regarding anti-racist education during their Second Steps Curriculum and Restorative Classroom Circles. Anti-racist education for Horizon means celebrating and valuing all cultures and families actively. Additionally, we are building skills to find commonality in our differences and empathy for all experiences.
“We are really excited about this opportunity for our students and teachers to dive deeper into equity work,” says Dr. Vanessa Jobe, assistant principal at Horizon.
Pictured are the books available to classrooms. On September 16 the web page will be available to online and hybrid teachers. In the meantime, our Social Justice Team at Horizon is working to create lessons and resources that are available for Restorative Circles and link with the books.
