Federal waivers granting access to free school lunch for students enrolled at schools participating in the National School Lunch Program since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic will end at the end of this school year (June 2, 2022).
Families will be able to apply for free or reduced-price school lunch when online registration opens on July 27, 2022. Families may be eligible if they meet the federal income eligibility guidelines or participate in one of the following programs:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
- Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR).
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Students who do not meet these guidelines will once again be required to pay for school lunch for the 2022-2023 school year.
Summer Lunch Program
As we reported two weeks ago, MCSD will be offering Summer meals again this year. All meals are free and for children 0-18 years old. However, because of changes in Federal programs after June 30, procedures for June and July will be different so please take note and help us share this message with your neighbors.
