kindergarten student

Kindergarten online registration opens district-wide on March 5 and closes June 18. It re-opens with all the other grades on July 28. Each year, schools offer a registration day (listed below), however parents can register their 2025-26 kindergartener online when it opens.

In compliance with HB517, Murray City School District’s standard kindergarten program is full-day. We also offer a half-day option (8:40-11:40 am) where students will receive the minimum standards for state board requirements. To ensure necessary staffing arrangements, families selecting a half-day option after the priority registration dates March 5 – June 5, 2025 will not be counted in the student threshold for R277-730.

Also very important, HB331 requires a student to be toilet trained before enrolling in kindergarten.  If you would like assistance to help your kindergartner be toilet trained before school starts please see review this information.

The registration process is simple:

  1. Complete an official registration form here, then visit your school to provide documentation. (Please note the information and forms will not be live until March 5).
  2. If your school has not yet held its registration day (see dates above), come register that day/time OR you can call to make an appointment or make arrangements to come over during regular business hours.
  3. Bring (1) your child’s original birth certificate, (2) two documents proving residency (must include parent’s name(s) and physical address), and (3) their original immunization record; we will make copies of these documents for you.

Your student does not need to be present to register – this is only for formal paperwork processing.

Please remember that registration is for all children turning five years old BEFORE September 1, 2025. If your child attends ECEC, you must still register with your school. And, there are certain guidelines and resources available to ensure all children are toilet trained before they begin school – go here for more details on this.

If you have a child with special needs, please also contact the District Office Special Education Department – Kelli Kercher 801-264-7459 or Lisa Adair at 801-264-7402. All other questions are directed to your school office.
