The Murray Education Foundation and Murray City School District are teaming up with the Bicycle Collective, a Salt Lake City-based nonprofit, to host a bicycle donation drive throughout the month of April. This initiative aims to collect used bicycles, as well as new helmets and locks, to benefit students and families in need within the Murray community.

Donations will be accepted at the Murray City School District offices, located at 5102 S. Commerce Drive. Bicycles can be dropped off during business hours (7:30 am to 4:15 pm) next to the mechanic shop at the district office complex. Additionally, monetary contributions to purchase new helmets and locks can be made through a designated payment link here: https://bit.ly/MurrayCycling
The Bicycle Collective welcomes bikes in any condition. Once collected, they will be repaired and restored by the organization’s skilled mechanics. The refurbished bicycles will either be sold at a low cost through the Collective’s store or donated back to Murray students and families in need. Through this initiative, the partnership aims to promote accessibility to safe, reliable transportation while fostering a culture of sustainability and community support.
Beyond repairs, the Bicycle Collective also offers educational opportunities. Their workshops and repair stations provide community members with hands-on experience in bike maintenance, allowing individuals to learn essential skills while accessing affordable used parts.
By working together, MEF, MCSD, and the Bicycle Collective hope to create a meaningful impact, ensuring that more children and families in the community have access to bicycles for recreation, exercise, and transportation.
For those looking to contribute, consider donating a bike, helmet, or lock, or making a financial donation to support this initiative. Every contribution helps create a more connected and active community in Murray!
