jessica garrettLast night, Murray Education Foundation (MEF) and Murray City School District (MCSD) honored this year’s recipients of the Pinnacle Awards. They were:

  • Lindsey Preece, Grant Elementary Classified Employee
  • Annette Tomlinson, Longview Elementary Teacher
  • Natalie Dansie, Murray High Volunteer
  • Jessica Garrett, Murray High Teacher
  • Heather Nicholas, Parkside Elementary Principal
  • Susan Wright, District Instructional Coach

Attendees were greeted with a social hour featuring the Murray High School String Quartet. The program included remarks from MEF Chair Blake Voorhees, MCSD Superintendent Jennifer Covington, and Sharon Westover, who served as the Emcee. Some entertaining numbers from the MHS Jazz Band followed that.

Students and teachers delivered brief remarks about each recipient before Pinnacle winners were presented with their awards and made their own remarks.

Since 2004, the Murray community (families, citizens, educators, and more) has nominated MCSD educators, personnel, volunteers, and administrators to receive the Pinnacle Award. Each year hundreds of nominations are reviewed by the MEF Selection Committee, which chooses the best of the best.

Nominations are surprise-announced by visiting each individual at their school. From there, they are invited to attend a special gala in their honor in March.
