MCSD have been notified that waivers for the universally-free Summer lunch program announced in May, which originally ended June 30, have been renewed/extended through July (July 29). This means all students of MCSD may receive free lunch AND breakfast through this month.
Under this current structure, breakfast will be served in a bag (with their lunch) for consumption the following day. Parents are allowed to pick up the meals for their children, and thus, meals may be taken home (not required to be consumed on-site). Meal service (and pickup) will continue at all Horizon Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Hillcrest Jr. high and Hunter Woods Apts, and Frontgate Apts., again, through July 29, 2022, Monday – Friday, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm.
However, normal operations will resume in August. As of right now in August, Families may be eligible if they meet the federal income eligibility guidelines or participate in one of the following programs:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
- Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR).
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Students who do not meet these guidelines will again be required to pay for school lunch for the 2022-2023 school year.
We appreciate your attention to this matter, and we look forward to working with you to ensure all of our students can access the nutrition they need during our Summer months of service. If you have questions, contact MCSD Food Services at (801) 264-7400.
