Registration
Registration/Enrollment
As a public school system, we welcome all students who live within the district's boundaries and meet state age and health requirements. For specific registration/enrollment information, please contact your child's school.
-
Only a legal parent or court-appointed legal guardian may register a student.
Required Documentation (to verify legal parent/guardian status):
-
Option 1: A state-issued photo ID that matches the name on the student’s original birth certificate or passport.
-
Option 2: Official court documents verifying legal guardianship.
Re-Enrolling Students:
If your student has previously attended a school in Murray School District, the legal parent/guardian may use their Aspire Account login to complete the re-enrollment process.
Definitions
Legal Parent: A person who is recognized by the law as the mother or father of a child. This is a very specific legal status that comes with both rights and responsibilities.
Legal Guardian: A person or agency appointed by a court to make personal and/or financial decisions for another person who lacks the capacity to make those decisions themselves.
-
-
After reviewing these instructions and completing the necessary steps, please contact your child’s school for further assistance if needed.
Aspire Student Information System has two types of accounts.
Student Account. This account is used for the student to access their schedule, locker #, grades, etc. This account is set up automatically upon registration. The username for this account is the 5 digit student ID number. Students cannot register using a student account.
Parent/Guardian Account. This account is exclusively for parents and guardians. The username and password are created by the parent/guardian during account setup. Registration must be completed using a parent/guardian account.
Parents/Guardians do not share your login information with your student.
Do not include your student’s personal cell phone number anywhere in Aspire.
If you are not sure if you have a parent/guardian account, or if you can’t remember your username and password, you can recover this information on the Aspire homepage, by clicking on Need Help Logging In? Please do not create duplicate parent/guardian Aspire accounts.
If you do not have a parent/guardian account, you can create one on the Aspire homepage, by clicking request a username or register student for enrollment.
Common Mistake. While registering in Aspire, watch for the "Contacts" section and make sure to "+Add New Contact" so that all parents/guardians are listed in the contact section. Parents/Guardians should not be listed in the "Emergency Contacts" section.
A NEW student is any student without a Murray City School District (MCSD) Aspire student ID number. If your student has attended a school in the MCSD at any time, that student is not new, do not create a new account for them. All new students must go to the school to provide required documentation. Please contact the school secretary at the school where you wish to register your child.

Murray City School District Proof of Residency Procedures
Before a student is enrolled in a Utah public school, the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must show proof of Utah residency in the school district in which the student desires to enroll. (UC.A. 53A-2-201)To be enrolled in the Murray City School District, families must present two (2) forms of documentation (to be copied) showing that their primary residence (the house in which they live) lies within the school boundaries. Any combination of the following documents may be used in determining residency, and they must include parent or legal guardian’s name (custodial parent or parent student lives with), and physical address:
- Rental/Lease Agreement
- Purchase/Escrow Agreement
Dated within the past 60 days:

Aspire is used with more regularity (by parents and students) once a student enters seventh grade and throughout their remaining time at Murray City School District (MCSD).
Aspire is the district’s technology tool for tracking student information. This includes parent and student contact information, but also academic records, class schedules, and more. When a student registers at MCSD they are assigned an Aspire account. Access to this account is not often needed until 7th grade.
IMPORTANT: Parents and students have separate accounts that are linked so that parents can monitor multiple students (this is also important to understand when viewing student schedules – see the final paragraph below).
Here are the basic steps for logging in to Aspire for the first time or if you have forgotten/lost the login information:
Step 1: First Time Login
When logging into Aspire for the first time, go to this link:
Alternatively, you can go here and click on “Need Help Logging in?”
In either case, you will need to enter the student’s username and password:
- The student’s username is their 5-digit student ID #
- The student’s email address is their 5-digit student # followed by @student.murrayschools.org
Step 2: Watch for the Email
Next, the student will login to their student email account using their full email address and the password that they use to login to their Chromebook to get the temporary password. An email like the example below will be sent to their email account (again, this is only an example).
Your temporary password for username 55555 is: example – 754hurry-Salty
Please log in to aspire using your temporary password, then choose a new password that you’ll be able to remember. Security is important so we ask that your new password be at least 8 characters including a mixture of upper- and lower-case letters and numbers. Symbols are also allowed. Please try to choose a password unknown to others and not easily guessed.
What’s Next: Why Aspire is Helpful
In August, after parents/guardians complete the Aspire registration process and pay school fees, students will login to their student Aspire account to view their school schedule, teachers, locker assignment and combination, and more.
Schedules are not viewable using a parent/guardian Aspire account until the first day of school. Students, however, can view their schedules, locker assignment & combo in Aspire about 3 days after their parent/guardian registers them and pays their school fees.

I registered online for a new student. Is my registration complete?
No. To finalize your student's registration, you must bring the required documents to the school they will be attending before registration is complete.
I live in Murray. Doesn’t that mean I am a resident?
Living in the city of Murray doesn't always mean you are a resident of the Murray School District. To determine your residency and which school your student should attend, please follow these two steps:
-
Check Your Address: Use our online tool to see if your home is within the Murray School District boundaries.
-
Verify School Boundary: Once confirmed, check if your address is within the specific school boundary you wish your student to attend.
If your address falls outside of the district or school boundaries, you must fill out a non-resident application to register your student.
I live too far from the school. Does my child get to ride the bus?
Bus eligibility is determined by specific distance requirements based on Utah state code. Your child may be eligible for busing if you live at least 1.5 miles away from the school for elementary students or 2.0 miles away for secondary students, and are within the school's boundary.
Non-resident and out-of-district students are not eligible for busing.
To confirm if your child is eligible, please use our busing eligibility tool.
When can my secondary student see their schedule?
When school fees are paid and Aspire registration is completed online, you will be able to view and print your class schedule using your student Aspire account, beginning August 8th.

Busing
Bus applications are not necessary. All eligible students have been assigned to a bus.
To check your eligibility by your address please click this link check your address.
If your address shows a "walk-zone" under the school information, you are within the walking distance (1.5 miles for elementary, 2.0 for secondary). If under the school information, it shows a bus number, route number, stop location and time, you are eligible and already assigned to that stop. If no information is populated in your search, you are out of the MCSD boundaries and are not eligible for MCSD transportation.
If you have any questions regarding busing, please contact Jeannie Del Rio at 801-264-7410 or jdelrio@murrayschools.org
If you have a special education bus need, please contact Emily Bird at 801-264-7400 or ebird@murrayschools.org
