School Closure and Boundary Realignment Information
Faced with declining elementary enrollment—driven by Utah’s falling birth rate and rising housing costs—the Murray City School District Board of Education is carefully evaluating potential boundary adjustments and school consolidations or closures. This work is aimed at ensuring all students continue to benefit from optimal class sizes and access to a comprehensive range of academic programs. The process also establishes a foundation for future school upgrades to better serve each community.
The Board is using a data-informed approach that considers school proximity, realistic walking and driving distances, major transportation corridors, and existing neighborhood cohesion. A central priority is to preserve established neighborhoods whenever possible while aligning school boundaries to maintain balanced enrollment across the district.
