Sierra Marsh Honored as USBE Prevention Star
Murray City School District's own Sierra Marsh is making waves! She's been named a September Star by the Utah State Board of Education's (USBE) Prevention newsletter for her incredible work as our Prevention and Youth in Care Coordinator.
In her three years in this role, Sierra has been a driving force behind innovative, proactive prevention programs. She spearheaded the adoption of Sources of Strength in our schools and has worked to expand the program across Utah. Her efforts also extend to vital substance use prevention, including collaboration with Parents Empowered. We're so proud to have Sierra leading the charge in creating a healthier, safer community for all of our students!
Nature Center Partnership Wins Jordan River Champion Award
Finally, we are thrilled to announce that the Murray City School District's Nature Center, in partnership with Murray City, was honored with the prestigious Jordan River Champion Award at the Jordan River Friends Celebration and Recognition Gala!
This incredible recognition celebrates the unique and impactful collaboration that makes the Nature Center a truly special place. Jordan River Commission Director Soren Simonsen spoke highly of this partnership, noting that our Nature Center is the only outdoor learning center of its kind along the entire Jordan River! It provides an invaluable, rich learning opportunity for all Murray elementary students, connecting them with nature and environmental stewardship. In fact, the Murray Nature Center is being recognized as a model for future projects along the Jordan River—a testament to its success.
A very special shout-out and heartfelt thank you goes to Catherine Singer, our extraordinary Nature Center Coordinator! Catherine’s tireless efforts, passion, and dedication make learning come alive for every Murray student who visits.
We are so proud of our team members and community partners for these inspiring and well-deserved statewide honors!
