The Murray City School District (MCSD) is currently in the final stretch of our Open Enrollment season. In Utah, families have the unique opportunity to apply for a public school outside their neighborhood boundaries, provided there is space and criteria are met.

With the February 7 deadline fast approaching, now is the time to secure your student’s spot for the upcoming year!

As the smallest of the five Salt Lake County districts, MCSD offers something unique that works great for some families. We call this our superpower. Because we are small, we are responsive, agile, and dedicated to knowing every student by name. When you choose Murray, you aren’t just a number—you’re part of the family.

Key Deadlines & Timeline

If you live outside Murray boundaries or are a qualifying current student, please take note of the following window:

• Application Deadline: February 7 at 5:00 PM

• Notification Date: Non-resident applicants will receive an email by March 31, 2026. (Be sure to keep an eye on your SPAM folder!)

Who Needs to Apply?

You only need to participate in Open Enrollment if your student falls into one of these three categories:

1. New Out-of-Boundary Students: You live outside MCSD and want to join us for the first time.

2. Transitioning Non-Residents: You live outside the district and your student is moving from elementary to junior high, or junior high to high school.

3. In-District Transfers: You live in Murray but want to attend a different MCSD school than your assigned neighborhood school.

Note: If your student is already on an Open Enrollment permit and is not changing school levels (e.g., staying in the same elementary school), you do not need to reapply.

The 2-Step Online Process

We’ve kept it simple. Only a parent or legal guardian may complete these steps:

1. Pay the Fee: [Visit our portal] to pay the non-refundable $5 application fee.

2. Submit the Form: Complete the official online application before the February 7 cutoff.

Reminder: Only one application is permitted per student (one school choice).
