7th Annual "Fill Our Truck" Food & Bike Drive to Support Murray Students

Murray Education Foundation is pleased to partner with FFKR Architects and BHB Structural the 7th Annual Fill Our Truck Food & Bike Drive, a community-driven initiative dedicated to "Powering Potential in Murray Schools." On April 16, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, the community is invited to FFKR’s parking lot to help bridge the gap for students facing food insecurity and transportation barriers.
Addressing a Critical Need
Within the Murray City School District, the reality of food insecurity is significant: 35% of the student body qualifies for free or reduced lunch programs, and over 100 students are currently identified as homeless. For these children, the school day is often the only time they have access to consistent nutrition.
"A student cannot focus on a math problem when they are wondering where their next meal will come from," said Doug Perry, Executive Director of Murray Education Foundation. “MEF works with many great community partners to address these and other destabilizing issues, and this year has partnered up two of Utah’s most recognized A&E firms to help provide a critical safety net for those navigating education without a stable home or full pantry.
New for 2026: The Bicycle Drive
This year, the event is expanding, rolling in an additional MEF partnership in the Bicycle Collective, a non-profit that provides refurbished bicycles to those in need. The drive will also include the collection of used bicycles to help remove transportation barriers for students. By working with the Murray City School District, the Collective ensures students receive high-quality, refurbished bikes at no cost, allowing them to get to school on time and participate in after-school programs.
How to Participate
The community can support the cause through several donation channels:
- Priority Food Items: High-need items include spaghetti, pasta sauce, rice, beans, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter, and "Completed Bagged Weekend Food Kits" (containing two breakfasts, lunches, and dinners).
- Used Bicycles: Help fill the lot with bikes to be refurbished for student use.
- Gift Cards & Monetary Donations: Target and Walmart gift cards help the District purchase fresh food for families in crisis. Checks can be made payable to the "Murray Education Foundation".
- Corporate & Office Giving: Companies are encouraged to sponsor large-scale donations or host in-office competitions.
