Bridging the Gap: New One-on-One Parent Coaching Now Available in Murray

In Utah, families often face a difficult reality when seeking mental health support: waiting lists for licensed therapists can stretch six months or longer. For a parent watching their child struggle with emotional or behavioral issues, six months is an eternity. We know that when your child is in crisis, you need support immediately.
To fill this critical gap, the Murray City School District is proud to announce a new partnership with the Cook Center for Human Connection. Through this agreement, Murray parents now have free, confidential access to Parent Coaching—one-on-one virtual sessions with a coach who can provide expert guidance when you feel uncertain about how to help your child.
What is Parent Coaching?
Parent Coaching provides a lifeline for caregivers navigating their child’s mental health journey. These weekly virtual sessions offer:
- Individualized Support: Tailored guidance to address your specific family needs.
- Expert Tools: Practical strategies developed by licensed therapists to manage behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Immediate Connection: A way to bypass long wait times and get help when it’s needed most.
Community-Funded Support
This vital service is made possible by the Murray Education Foundation. Funding was provided through generous individual donations specifically targeted at helping students experiencing mental health crises. It is a true testament to the Murray community’s commitment to our children’s well-being.
How to Get Started
In addition to 1:1 coaching, parents can access free, on-demand courses and an "Ask a Therapist" feature at ParentGuidance.org.
If you feel your family could benefit from these coaching services, please reach out to a member of Murray’s School-Based Mental Health team. They are ready to help connect you with these resources and ensure you don’t have to navigate these challenges alone.
