Time to Register! Key Dates, Documents, and Details for Murray Families

It’s officially that time of year again! Registration for the 2026–2027 school year is now open across all Murray City School District (MCSD) schools. Whether you have a child entering kindergarten, a rising 7th grader heading into junior high, or a returning high schooler, here is everything parents need to know to complete registration smoothly.
1. Log In to Aspire (The First Step)
All online registration is handled through the Aspire Student Information System.
-
Returning Students: Log into your existing Parent/Guardian Aspire account to verify contact details and re-enroll your child. (Note: If your child has ever attended an MCSD school or the ECEC in the past, they are already in the system—do not create a new account).
-
New Families: Click "Request a Username or Register Student for Enrollment" on the Aspire homepage to set up your parent account.
-
Important Reminder: Registration must be completed from a Parent/Guardian account, not a student ID account. Make sure to list all parents/guardians under the Contacts section rather than Emergency Contacts.
2. In-Person Document Checklist
If your student is new to the district, entering Kindergarten, or starting 7th Grade, online registration is only step one. You will also need to bring physical copies of required documents directly to your child's school on designated registration days or by appointment.
| Required Document | Details & Acceptable Forms |
| Proof of Student Identity | Certified birth certificate, official passport, or I-94 document. |
| Proof of Residency | Two (2) documents showing parent/guardian name and physical address dated within the last 60 days (e.g., utility bill, lease/mortgage agreement, bank statement). |
| Immunization Records | Up-to-date official immunization record or a state-approved exemption certificate. |
| 7th Graders Only | Unofficial grade transcripts and official withdrawal paperwork from their previous school. |
3. Key Dates & Extras to Keep in Mind
-
August 7 — Class Schedules & Lockers Go Live: Once your online Aspire registration is complete, secondary students and parents can log into Aspire starting August 7th to view class schedules, assigned teachers, and locker details.
-
Chromebook Insurance: Optional device insurance is available for secondary students at $25 per year per device (available to purchase through October 1st).
-
Transportation & Busing: No separate bus application is needed. Busing is automatically assigned to eligible students living within district boundaries who meet distance thresholds (1.5+ miles for elementary; 2.0+ miles for secondary). You can verify bus stops using the address lookup tool on the district website.
-
Free & Reduced Meals: Applications for the free and reduced lunch program can be completed directly inside your Aspire parent account.
Need Assistance?
School secretaries and district staff are available to help walk you through the process. We also have Registration Assistance Night scheduled for August 4, 1:30-3:30 pm and 4:00-7:00 pm at Hillcrest Jr. High School. And, as always, you can reach out to the Murray City School District Office at 801-264-7400 or via email at info@murrayschools.org.
