MCE STAFF/INSTRUCTORS NEEDED: If you or anyone you know is interested in teaching a Murray Community Education course in one of the upcoming sessions, please contact Kristen at 801-264-7400.  We are flexible with scheduling days and times, and always interested in offering new subjects and skills for our patrons. Murray Community Education classes are held at various schools within the Murray District.

Gentle Yoga: Taught by Jamie Chandler

Gentle Yoga is a form of classical hatha yoga. Perfect for any fitness level; including pregnant women. The gentle poses and techniques reduce stress, assist with weight management, and produce greater health and well-being. Students need to be able to get up and down from the floor. A yoga mat and blanket are required.

  • Classes held at Hillcrest Jr. High

8 pass punch passes are available and can be used for any class. Money can not be taken day of the class. A punch pass must be presented at each class.

Yoga: Taught by Jamie Chandler

Integrate your mind, body, and spirit through Yoga. Incorporate physical postures, breath control, and meditative techniques to lower stress levels, reduce pain, alleviate depression, boost the immune system and increase your flexibility. Work every muscle and every system of your body from the inside out.  Yoga sticky mat, 6 ft. yoga strap, one yoga block , and a stiff blanket are required.

This FREE 4 session course teaches parents how to raise responsible children and enjoy parenting.

  • $108 registration fee
  • Students are responsible for their own pottery tools
  • Each student will receive a bag of clay on the first day of class
    • Additional bags are $12 each
  • CLASS IS LIMITED TO 16 STUDENTS

MCE Dance Information:

  • Murray Community Education Dance is for dancers from 3 – 18 years old. (3 year old dancers must be potty trained) We offer Tap, Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop dance classes.
  • Classes are held once a week for an hour. (As your dancer advances they will have the opportunity to try out for ‘audition only’ classes. Class times and hours will vary for these classes)
  • Tuition is $90 for each class, due once in August and again in January. (For a total of $180/year)
  • A recital will be held in December and May. All performing classes will participate in both performances.
    • 3 year old classes do not perform in the recital
  • One costume will be purchased in August and it will be worn for both performances.
    • We try to keep the cost of the costume at under $85

Introduction to Spanish for Kids is a basic introduction to Spanish for children who have had little to no exposure to the Spanish language. Children will learn colors, numbers, shapes and animals, as well as how to answer simple questions, such as, ¿Cómo te llamas tú? and ¿Cuántos hay?

The class is taught immersion-style (completely in Spanish), using simple songs and hands-on activities and games. A parent help sheet is included, with vocabulary, song lyrics and home practice ideas.

We have opened up a second session for Introduction to Spanish for Kids

  • Ages 4-7 (Siblings slightly older or younger are also welcome to register)
  • $25/student
