someone sweeping hallwayOctober 2 is National Custodian Appreciation Day, and we certainly have much to celebrate about our Murray City School District custodians. Along with keeping our buildings clean and sanitized, they also help with maintenance, repairs, and other critical work that keeps our facilities comfortable and functioning correctly.

Custodians often work behind the scenes, sometimes showing up to work early and leaving late or working after hours. Further, they are on-call when we experience inclement weather – helping clear sidewalks and parking lots throughout the early morning hours.

And yet, they are often well-known – on a first-name basis – among staff, students, volunteers, and even parents. This elevates their status further as you can be sure and receive a friendly welcome and hello to those they encounter and work with.

Finally, custodians at MCSD are also often called upon to assist with emergencies or urgent situations. They are trained in our Standard Response Protocols and often work with administrators and staff to help stabilize incidents and situations.

Overall, school custodians are an essential part of the MCSD. They work hard to keep schools clean and safe, help create a positive and welcoming environment for students and staff, and are responsive to immediate needs. Their work is invaluable, and they deserve recognition and appreciation for all that they do.

When you have a moment, give your favorite custodian a shout out or personalized expression of appreciation!
