person typing calendarThe Murray Board of Education approved school calendars for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years at their December 12 Board meeting.

Go here to review the current calendar and bell schedule page – you will also see included the newly-approved calendars for the next two school years.

Important Changes

Please note that both calendars are very similar to help families with future scheduling. They also reflect a strong preference by many to ensure students are able to complete school before June – allowing families to get a jump start on travel over the Summer, and in alignment with other districts in the state.

You will also see that while Kindergarten begins a few days after other students, those three days will be used for individual testing and assessment to optimize their placement and learning strategies for teachers. We will also no longer begin the year with half days for students, a practice that was particularly helpful during the pandemic.

How the Calendars Were Created

Parents, teachers, and administrators were given the opportunity to express their thoughts on these calendars through a survey earlier this year. District administrators reviewed that information, and drafts of potential calendars were presented to the Board of Education beginning in October, ahead of multiple deliberations, and the ultimate approval last week.

Both years include many of the same features as other years – breaks for Fall, Winter, and Spring, parent/teacher conferences, holidays, and more. While the District seeks consistency and continuity for the sake of student learning and family scheduling, the Board does reserve the right to make modifications should an unanticipated need arise.

Lastly, page two of each calendar, our District Reference Guide, includes communication details, an inclement weather protocols summary, and our Standard Response Protocols to further inform and empower parents with key information to foster productive engagement with the District and schools.
