teacher teaching class spanish[DLI PROGRAM FLYERENGLISH | SPANISH]

Do you have a kindergarten or first-grade student jumping to learn Spanish?

The application window for Horizon Elementary’s Dual Language Immersion program will be open from January 8th through January 26, 2024. Any kindergarten-aged student starting the first grade in fall 2024 may apply.

A lottery will be held to determine entrance into the program if the number of applicants exceeds the seats available.  A limited number of current first-grade students will also be eligible to participate beginning in their second-grade year (a lottery will be used if necessary here also).

About the Program

Elementary students in the Dual Language Immersion program spend half the day learning core subjects in English and the other half learning in a target language (Spanish). The program continues through high school, where students can work to pass the Advanced Placement exam in 9th or 10th grade and take college-level courses for early college credit.

Please note that students with siblings currently enrolled at Horizon must still submit applications by the January 26, 2024 deadline.

Murray City residents will be given priority when making placement decisions. Parents will be notified of placement or waitlist offers between January 29th and February 2nd.

Learn More

You can learn more about the program on the Murray City School District website. You will find informational videos (English and Spanish versions available) and other helpful program details there.

If you have additional questions, a virtual Q&A meeting will be held for parents/guardians interested in the Spanish DLI Program on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. If you want to participate, please email mball@murrayschools.org to receive the ZOOM link. Attendance at the Q&A is not required.
