Murray City School District (MCSD) is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, including those with health challenges. The district offers a range of support services to ensure that students with medical needs can fully participate in school activities and achieve academic success.
One of the ways that MCSD supports students with health challenges is by providing individualized health plans (IHPs) or Emergency Action Plans (EAP). These plans outline the student’s specific medical needs, including dietary restrictions, seizures, allergies, diabetes, and emergency procedures for other health conditions. IHPs and EAPs are developed in partnership with families, healthcare providers, and school staff to ensure that the student’s needs are fully understood and met.
In addition, the district employs school nurses who provide medical support and care to students with health challenges. School nurses work closely with families, healthcare providers, and school staff to ensure that students receive the necessary medical attention and support during the school day.
MCSD nurses also provide formal and informal training to some school staff on various health-related topics, including CPR and first aid, asthma management, and diabetes care. This training is handled as needed but ensures responsiveness and student support for medical needs and in emergency situations.
Overall, MCSD is dedicated to ensuring that all students, regardless of their health status, have the opportunity to succeed academically and thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment.
