child pointing to bandaid covering immunizationImmunizations are essential for school children as they protect them from infectious diseases that can cause serious harm to their health. Children are at a higher risk of contracting these diseases due to their underdeveloped immune systems, and exposure in a school setting adds to that risk.

Utah State Law requires all students to submit a completed immunization record to the school before the first day of school attendance. Go here to see a list of required immunizations and how you can demonstrate proof of them when you register your student.

Keep in mind that immunizations not only protect your child or children but also the community as a whole by reducing the spread of diseases. When a large percentage of the population is immunized against a particular disease, it becomes difficult for the infection to spread, known as herd immunity. This also helps protect those individuals who cannot receive vaccinations for medical reasons.

Furthermore, vaccinations have proven to be a safe and effective way to prevent diseases. The vaccines are developed after rigorous testing and monitoring for safety and efficacy. The side effects, if any, are generally mild and short-lived.
