Parents you may be aware through news stories that the need for school and district substitutes during the Omicron surge is at an all-time high. Though we don’t expect this will last through the end of the school year, it is an immediate concern at Murray and other districts.

You can help us by becoming a substitute. We presently need additional substitute teachers, bus drivers, and other personnel. Any skill level or help would be appreciated.

Substitutes aren’t just a warm body – they create important stability, continuity, and care that our students need. Again, we don’t need long-term commitments for this area of concern but want to avoid disruptions during this unprecedented time.

If you have the time or ability to work as a substitute, we would love to talk to you.

  • Substitutes are compensated for their time at a rate of
    • $110 per day – high school diploma
    • $120 per day – 60 semester hours through a degree
    • $140 per day – licensed as a teacher
  • If you want to be a substitute, go here: https://www.murrayschools.org/departments-programs/human-resources/substitutes/
  • If there are certain assignments (ie teaching specific grades), please identify that
  • MCSD will cover the cost of required background checks and fingerprinting
